alright guys, help a girl out flowersdirtandgardengirl: Okay boys, time to fess up:
Please time me honestly and truly, once and for all, how important is it REALLY to be skinny? Is it a turn on or a turn off? I'm not talking starving Botswanna refugee, just, well, inarguably thin.
I could tell you my reasons for asking this but you'll definitely know then that I'm a screw-ball so just answer if you can.
thanks a bunch boys....
love,
gg
Re: alright guys, help a girl out frontier74: Heh, I guess I'll be the first to fess up to the somewhat shallow nature of the male gender.
Now, I can only speak for myself, and the men that I know personally, but skinny is mostly a matter of preference.
Some men prefer blondes and some prefer brunettes, but I've yet to meet the man who prefers obese. The line is usually drawn at what most men would consider "thick." That means not thin, but not really fat either. The better looking a girl is in the face, or the larger her breasts, the more "thickness" she can get away with. A girl can also get a lot of mileage out of being very comfortable with her body, even though she may not be the fashion magazine ideal.
As I said before, whether a man prefers a girl to be painfully thin, slightly curvy, thick, or somewhere in between, is entirely a matter of preference, and many men will often overlook their preference, to varying degrees, if a girl is very cool, and knows how to make the most of the body she's got. At least, that's where I think the majority of men stand on the issue, but I could be wrong.
It's a hard reality, especially if you’re an overweight woman, but it is reality, at least as I see it. I'd be interested in hearing what the other guys think.
Re: alright guys, help a girl out flowersdirtandgardengirl: Wow, thanks for the honesty.
This question came about after a quazi-heated debated between my best friend and I the other night. There's something that still doesn't sit right with me though, which pertains to what you said about a guy being willing to deviate from his "norm" if a girl is very cool and knows how to work with what she's got. Couldn't agree with you more but have had experiences in my life that kind of demonstrate something a little more to the contrary of that. But that's neither here nor there.
Doesn't look like anyone else is biting on this one though, lol :)
Re: alright guys, help a girl out frontier74: Not all men are willing to deviate -- even a little. These men are at the extremes of the dating spectrum, i.e., not in the majority.
On one side, you have the guys who are wildly successful with women. They may never accept anything less than a 10, because they know they don't have to. Plus, they have a high tolerance for shallow, high maintenance women, since they are shallow and high maintenance themselves.
On the other end is the completely unsuccessful guy, who probably spends too much time fantasizing about Victoria's Secrets models and porn stars for his own good. Only wanting what he'll never have serves as a nice hook to hang his lack of success on.
Hopefully, I'm not digging my whole deeper by continuing this discussion. I notice that no other guys wanted to touch it. :P
Re: alright guys, help a girl out Horseface: I have typed up two responses but keep forgetting to click the post button - so here it is again.
I prefer skinny simply because my wife spent most of the time over weight. I like the feel of someone's body that is skinny. Its a completely different feel to me.
However in saying that, I am no skinny man myself. I'm not fat but certainly not skinny so I can not realistically use that as selection criteria.
A (little) overweight women (like myself) would be great. I would have no problems with that.
As for the Victoria secret Types - too much maintenence for me. however as a friend of mine said "yes they would be, but oh God would that be nice for awhile!!!". I laughed and agreed!!
hope that helps.
