So, I decided to try something new...I wanted to try and pursue some of the guys I thought were good looking. I came up with a line that pretty much covers it all..
Case in point. I was at the bar for NYE and I was belly up to the bar with a good guy friend of mine (so no guys were coming up to me). I was having a great time, glanced over my shoulder about three times and made eye contact with a great looking guy. He smiled at me, I smiled at him. He made his way up to the bar a few people down. I leaned over, touched his arm (mind you it was a very crowded bar) and he looked over at me and smiled. I smiled, looked directly in his eyes and asked,
"Are you single?" He smiled and hesitantly replied, "No, I'm with my girl.." I smiled, crinkled my nose and joked, "Aww..you're breaking my heart!"
Twice, he came up to me and said, 'You know, if I was single, I would take you out" When I was leaving, he caught up to me and said, "I just wanted to thank you. You are totally cute and I would totally hook up with you if I was single". I smiled and said, 'Best of luck to you'. I made his night!
My friend and I were discussing this perfect pick up line..."Are you single?"
1. It gives the other person an 'out' if they are not interested in you, without totally rejecting you.
2. It cuts to the chase...None of this, 'Can I buy you a drink' crap.
3. If someone replies, 'Yes, I am single, however, I am not interested'. I would buy them a drink anyway for being so honest!!

If you're a strong independent woman and have the nerve to carry it through I say go for it.
If you like to be chased, then flirt and wait for the boys to come running.
But keep in mind if you aren't willing to approach someone, you might miss out on something great. And if you do approach a guy who would be averse to your forwardness, you might be hurt. But my feeling is this, regardless of whether you choose to be the approacher or wait to be approached, you have to be true to yourself. If you pretend to be something you're not, chances are you will be attracting men you won't be happy with anyway.
