I have been on Depo Lupron off and on for 3 years now. As far as my what my doctors told me about it, they told me it was like doing a Hysterectomy(sp??) without doing the surgery. And that I would be fine to have sex without a backup form of BC. So fast forward to last week. A friend of mine finds out that he got his gf prego. And I think, you know, I have always taken my dr word for it, that I would not be able to get prego on this med. So I go out and do some research and GUESS WHAT I FIND OUT?!?! it is still possible to get prego on this med. (AND before you all get mad at me, we were both tested before we started having sex, NO STD's) So I have a dr appointment later that afternoon to get my last lupron shot. I freak out anyway and go and get a pregnancy test done before I see the dr. It is negative. I talk to my dr and ask, is it true that I can get pregnant while on lupron and he says "yes, you need to use a backup method" and I think, CRAP!!! So I tell him "why didn't you tell me this when you FIRST put me on it?!?!" and he says, "because you weren't sexually active then!" and I said "SO?!?!?!?!?" So then I go on to tell him about W and how we have been active for a month, he does tests, and no I am not prego. But he said "There is a min chance that you will get prego, I still suggest that you use a backup form of BC (NO SHIT!!! YOU THINK?!?!?)" ;)
So anyhow, since then, I have been using the film that you just stick up there 3 hrs or up until 15 mins before intercourse.. No problems, still not prego. BUT how to tell him that I was LIED to?!?! And that we need to use a backup method? Mind you since this happened, we have only had sex ONCE!!

(No, I am not talking about the Thursday thing from my other post... this was on the 11th that this all happened... we have only seen each other THREE times since I got this scare...)
My other question, how the HELL do you tell the man that you are in love with, that this is what you found out ONLY RECENTLY??? He knows that I have been on lupron on and off for 3 years.
I am freaking out over this....myself, let alone what he will say to it.

I would think he would be irritated about you being lied to so to speak ... than about the fact that you have to use a back up method. If the whole fact you have to use a 'back up' method is what is concerning .... well .. i won't lecture ... but it ought to have some serious thought.
See .. to me ... that seems like something that you would just discuss anyhow and be irritated about --- not something that would stand in the way of anything.
Also ... any birth control you take ... whether in pills ... shots ... or anything besides doing an actual hysterectomy or tubal ligation ... still carry their risk of pregnancy. Nothing is 100% effective and you should not fool yourself into thinking it is ... [/color">
