I was diagnosed with bi-polar after my husband left me. I wish he was as caring and sensitive as you have been. I regret so many of the things I did, but I didn't realize WHAT I was doing to my husband....
I don't know what to say to you, but I envy her.
It didn't help that my back to back miscarriages, and back to back pregnancies afterwards, made things worse! Meanwhile I just thought it was pregnancy hormones, or post pregnancy etc.etc. My Doc, said, it just pushed me over the edge emotionally/mentally/physically...
Wish my X would of cared enough...
Re: My girlfriend is bipolar and it hurts my heart JFsWolf: My second mother (daughters granny) is Bi-polar. As long as she is on her meds she is great (she is always great, lol but..) but when ever she starts feeling good and stops... things get weird.
As long as they stay on their meds and dont stop, even when they are feeling fine, they should be ok. Having a loved one there to keep them on the meds helps alot, you can have them take vitamins or something everyday and add in their bi-polar meds. Keeps them stable and healthy. :D

The reason its hard to deal with someone who is manic is because some people with bilor cycle into that stage and it drives the ones the love crazy because
they are unrelyable
they wont sleep
they wont sit still
they let their personal hyegen go
they stop cleaning house
they stop working
they are up on top of the world in a false belief
they spend too much money
they dont go to work
they leave their partner with all the bills
they talk too fast
they talk too much
they dont make much sence
they ignore friends/family/pets
they dont eat well
and if being affected by this type of behavior makes me codependent what a nice catch phrase to blame it all on the concerned partner.
Seeing the man I love with his hair uncombed stinking and running in circles eating only hamburgers and driving his car around all night is disturbing to me. He admits to falling asleep at the wheel and he thinks thats cool and funny.
He is still acting normal. He is pretending to sleep and feeding his dinner to the dog...
After 5 years of only one cycle I have been dealing with this manic stage since Oct 05 and I am sick of it. I know him very well and he is not better right now. He has slowed down his spin but the only differance is he is spinning at home and not drining around all night.
Knowing what I know now, growing up with a mother with bipolar...I will never even start a friendship with someone who tells me they are bipolar. Its too difficult to deal with people who dont help themselves.
I believe bipoal is a choice. No one must act that way.
Re: My girlfriend is bipolar and it hurts my heart dre: Being bipolar is not a choice I dont choose to have hallucinations when Im sober or hear voices but I only get that way when Im having an episode. Bipolar people dont stay that way all the time its that the dopemine receptors go haywire in our minds and we get manic till we are drained then get depressed. Some more often than others. Im sorry if I offended you. I understand that its hard to deal with sombody who is not acting normal. My step mom is bipolar and Ive seen the way she can become but its only during an episode otherwise she is normal. If your boyfriend acts that way all the time then there may be something else. I just think that when somebody has a mental problem its easier to blame them for things. If you dont like people that are bipolar then you are going to discredit a large group of the population and some really cool people too. I have never done anything to anyone that hasnt already done the same thing to me I dont think Im perfect either. Of course people are thrown off by someone with a mental condition but Ive just met too many people that have the same problems and are great people. I also have ADD which bipolar is similar to and both of these problems affect me but I take medication. Your guy needs to get on medication if its affecting his life now and I didnt say you were codependant the other person sayed they were.

My ex was Borderline and I tried all I could with her to the extent that it took a part of me away
You see...
You know what you are dealing with and are trying to deal with it so I would have never left someone like you...
But if you are with a person that refuses to work on there problems then you give up as I did
She hurt me in so many ways I don't even want to go there on talking about it...I just want to forget it...
None of us are perfect or normal we are all "nuts" in one way or another
We do the best we can...
