Valentine's Day
.

Valentine's Day wendieann: Not that my Valentine's Day was special during our marrriage. He forgot constantly...  ::)

However, my memories are there. (most recent ones)
1 year ~ we had our engagement party
2 year ~ celebrated our son with us
3 year ~ celebrated my pregnancy
4 year ~ alone....sigh...  :'(

Yes, I have the children, but it sure bothers me to walk in the mall and see the Valentine's stuff..Especially when I use to spoil my STBHX!!!  ::)

I did end up buying some guy friends a cheesy gift for being my friend...  :)

sigh...this will be a tough year.  :( Perhaps I will go and buy myself some flowers!!! and the kind of chocolates I like!!  ;)

What are you guys plans???
Re: Valentine's Day Bea: No plans here, but considering I'll be in midterms period, I assume I won't have much time to even think about it. Besides, St. Valentine's is a new concept for me since it isn't celebrated in my country (Colombia) and this is how it went for me while I was married and living here in Canada:

2000 - Nothing
2001 - Nothing
2002 - Nothing
2003 - Went out to have coffee at a friend's house
2004 - Finally, a romantic dinner
2005 - Alone

That coffee with my friend was one of the "reasons" my STBX listed for leaving me. See the pattern? Anyhoo, not looking back. The sad thing is that I've become bitter about it, so everytime I see little hearts somewhere I go "GAGS!". People find it funny, I find it pathetic. Oh well, I hope one day I'll be able to celebrate again.

It should be like in Colombia, we have a "Love AND Friendship Day" so nobody feels left out.

Re: Valentine's Day dgiirl: I'M LOVING MYSELF THAT DAY w00tar lol :)  My ex dropped the dbomb on vday 10pm last year (he walked into the house at 9pm), and the 15th was the day he officially moved out, hence my official divorce day.  This day can NEVER be worse than that day, so I'm treating myself to valentines day.  I'll never depend on a man to make it special for me ever again.  he never did in the marriage anyways, so it's not hard to make it better than that lol

I went to the dollar store and spent 2$ lol

I named my teddy bear Timothy :)

And for vday, i'm probably going to buy myself a cake or something and pig out!! :)

Re: Valentine's Day shockedandamazed: Hmm...I'll be in clinicals at the hospital and will have to come home and write a 4 page care plan on my patient for the day - so probably not much! I have been dating a few very new guys (It's just been fun!) - but don't expect to receive anything from any of them. (None of them know where I live and vice verse)

When growing up my mom made a big deal with every Holiday - no matter how trivial - but when I got married everything seemed so forced on his part - so it never felt genuine...

Not a big deal at all this year!
Re: Valentine's Day LostTeacher: i have an non-valentine dinner with friends.
last year, i invited a bunch of my friends that were single and not doing anything over for an evening together.
i made spaghetti, buns, chilled wine, and we had a great dinner.  we then watched movies, spent some time doing a little bit of man bashing, but the focus was on us, not on the fact that we didn't have anyone to share it with in the "romantic" way.
valentine's day is just so commercial anyway.
i never did too much.  all the romance went the way of our teen years.  plus, my ex's b-day is the day before valentine's day, so it was usually all about him anyway.
