Re: Bad news from my doctor today Chey: Audi,
I'm really sorry to hear that. Agreed on getting a second opinion and start finding out what the best thing is to do for you now.
As for telling your wife...first get all your information together, so that you know in your mind what's going on and what your options are. Since you have a daughter together, you should definetly tell her at some point. She doesn't need all the details but just enough so that she understands it a little.
She no longer has the right to be the person you go to for this, so you only need to tell her enough so that she's aware.
On a positive note (because I'm anal that way)...at least you know what it is now, you demanded attention for it, and you can start seeking PROPER medical attention.
I'm sorry honey......sending you a big hug

Secondly, I am so sorry. I know this must be quite a blow. But Lyme's disease is manageable, and although I know it can be very painful at times, it is often treatable to cure. I agree that you should consider a second opinion, but more importantly you should educate yourself as much as possible about the disease. As for the CAD is it a carditis related to the Lyme's or a incidental finding. Unfortunately, in our modern American society many adults ahve some incidence of CAD due to our overall lifestyle, overweight or not. And CAD covers a variety of processes.
Here is a good article I found from the Inefectious disease Society of America. I hope it helps it is very clinical in parts though . http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/lyme/
As for telling the wife. I would think it would depend on whether or not she will be helpful to you or not. I would wait until you have a better handle on how this is goign to affect your life in the short term also.
Best of luck...this is just not what you needed I know :) We are here though.

[color=navy"> I also being in the medical field ... am just going to say -- I basically agree with Blusky ...
Don't try to sell yourself short -- it's not a death sentence. Find out all you can about it .. and if you need to talk to someone then do it -- Don't make assumptions about anything until you are fully educated. I agree with finding out how it is going to affect your life before telling your wife ... you don't need her trying to use it as a manipulative point against you ---- come fully armed and make her realize ... it's for your daughter.
Hang in there --- if you need an ear -- we are here.[/color">
Re: Bad news from my doctor today alonewith2: I agree with the rest concerning the disease process. You should educate yourself as much as possible concerning treatment options, etc.
As far as telling your wife or when to tell her, I guess that depends on the type of relationship you have with her now. My STBXH knows about my Grave's disease, and I update him about my condition whenever there's a change. I feel that he does need to know. That's just me. And if it were him, I would want him to tell me, too.

I am not entirely sure at this point. ALL I know is that I am concerned because of the amount of times I have been to the hospital and the CONSTANT chest pains coupled with numb hands, feet and fingers, the shooting pains in my arms, the dizziness, mood swings and the fact that I seem like I'm lazy but it's more like I'm ALWAYS tired.....
I've done a tremendous amount of research on Lyme Disease. I understnad it's treatable.....I'm more concerned with the heart issues at this point.
