Tops and bottoms Topaz: I'm not sure if this really belongs in dating, so here goes...
I went to a party with a friend of mine last night and I met a very cute man (actually that has very little bearing on the story, which is why it's here) and we were talking when he looked at my friend and me and asked:
"Who is the bottom and who is the top in your relationship?"
Me: "What?!"
Him: "Who is the dominant one and who is the passive one here? I just saw a documentary about lesbians, and all the women in the movie said that there was always a dominant partner and a passive partner, or as they called it, a top and a bottom."
My friend and I started laughing (we LOVE impertinent questions!) and we said, "But we're not gay!"
Him: "Whatever, man. It doesn't really matter if you're romantically involved or not. So what are you?" He looked at my friend and said, "You're the bottom. You're very passive, but you'll end up getting your way."
She laughed and said, "You know, you're right."
Him: "And you [looking at me"> ...you're a top, baby, and you love other tops, don't you? You like that power struggle...I could never make you happy, because I'm such a bottom."
Cool party conversation starter, besides him being on the money. What about you? Are you a top or a bottom? Are you active or passive?

BTW, this is not strictly speaking a sexual thing. It's a metasexual thing, relating to behavior, demeanor, persona.
