I have had a few very weird and vivid dreams about my ex too....I think maybe it's due to the depth of the emotions that we are trying to get out of our systems and maybe due to our hearts tryingt o figure out WHY?!
I found that when I sat down with mine, I got some insights that I was keeping from myself and it was a chilling look into a future that I was saved from by his leaving! Perhaps if you look at it and see what it's telling you, you may get some reassurance's yourself that this is a GOOD thing, the breakup that is.....just my humble opinion:)
