Bit,
its not about YOU; its about her own protection and self-preservation.
If a girl wanted to meet you in public, end the date in public, and be a little hesitant/reserved until she knows you, then be courteous and agree to it..."for f*cks sake."
Re:Dating Do's and Dont's for females ChristyM: I think it's hard for the good men to not be insulted by a woman automatically thinking they are a "stalker". I had a guy start to get upset when I told him I would rather meet him at the restaurant instead of him picking me up. I told him I was sorry but if he wasn't willing to be understanding about it, then I wasn't interested. Really, what did I know about him other than the things HE told me? I also asked him if he had a daughter wouldn't he want her to be careful and take a few precautions?
And bp- you're talking about people that can vouch for you. That usually isn't the case in most situations.

I'd go so far as to say that it is silly not to be insulted by this concept. There's safe, and then there's paranoid. Draw the line somewhere.
Whether or not the guy's upset that you want to meet him at the restaurant ... that's his deal. Whether or not I tell some girl she's a fucking crackhead who can pay for her own taxi home because I poured wine while she was in the restroom and she is afraid I'm going to take her home and rape her after drugging her ... that's my deal.
There is such thing as too scared ...

(Edit: not that I've had to call anyone a crackhead for that reason yet, but I normally have a good feel for people I can date and people I can't well before taking them out ... best to head those sorts of situations off at the pass instead of letting them ruin what might have been a perfectly fine evening of shooting pool.)
Re:Dating Do's and Dont's for females ChristyM: Listen crack head - you aren't getting it...

If I knew the person and had a good feel for them this would all be a moot point-right? ;)
