What did you do with wedding photos? Do_Over: Hi,
This topic has probably been hashed out many times already, but I haven't seen it yet. So......
I'm nearing the one-year anniversary of my divorce. My parents recently helped me move (again!) and they saw a bin with things from our wedding (photos, cards, leftover invites, etc). I have not once opened this bin since packing the stuff in there and I have no intentions (or desire) to open it anytime soon. My parents thought that I should get rid of it. I can see myself getting rid of most of the stuff, but I don't think I can get rid of the photos. To me, my relationship and marriage with my ex has been a significant part of my life.
What do you think? Do you think that I'll do whatever I need to do whenever the time is right for me?
What are your experiences? How long did you hold on to things?
Thanks!
And happy Valentine's Day.
Re: What did you do with wedding photos? tara: Mine are in a box.
I don't see reason to get rid of them -- it was, as you said, a big part of your life.
My SO has photos taken of him while he was in the hospital, on life support, after a nasty accident six years ago. He sure as hell doesn't keep those for "happy memories." He keeps those for journalistic purposes. The accident was a big part of his life for a long time (still is, to a certain extent, but he's learned to work around the disabilities the accident caused).
Re: What did you do with wedding photos? Peaceandquiet: Used them for TP.... ;D ;D
See Snk... I'm trying to help out your thread :D
Re: What did you do with wedding photos? sosad05: My xh ended up keeping the actual album. I dont know what he did with it. Probably burned it. I only have 1 photograph and thats a 10x10 framed that was hanging over our fire place. I decided to save it for my daughter. I figured as life goes on it would be something she would like to keep. Also, my wedding ring, I saved. It had a pretty sizable diamond which I figured I would make into a piece of jewelry for her some day.
Hope that helps :)
Re: What did you do with wedding photos? turboss: mine are in a box too....I wanted to have a "packing party" (as was talked about in the "It's called Breakup b/c it is Broken book") but I ended up having enough strength to do it on my own...and it felt good. I think the "packing party" would have been sooo fun though.
