Re: Any tax experts out there? snkpack5: For single folks:
You must file a return if your gross income was at least $8,200.
If someone can claim you as a dependent, you must still file a return if any of the following exists:
Unearned income (taxable interest, ordinary dividents, capital gains distributions) exceeded $800
Earned income (wages, tips, taxable scholarship and fellowship grants) exceeds $5,000
Gross income was more than the larger of $800 or earned income up to $4750
You must also file if you received advanced EIC payments or you owe tax from the recapture of an education credit or alternative minimum tax

Re: Any tax experts out there? snkpack5: Depends. Are the student loans taxable? If not, then no filing.
Re: Any tax experts out there? snkpack5: HMMM I think that questions was stupid.
No I don't think so.
Loans would not be taxable. Sorry.
Re: Any tax experts out there? snkpack5: Once again foot in mouth. I didn't mean to say your question was stupid. I meant my answer was.
I'll just shut up now.
No I don't think you have to file . . .
