Re: i belong in jail Topaz: You need to contact the person (doctor or psycho-pharmocolgist) who prescribed the Celexa and tell them what happened, because they need to know and they have a legal and medical responsibility to you as prescribers.  They also should be able to help you RIGHT NOW, both in terms of having someone to talk to you and in understanding these side effects, and possibly offer you some other medication if that's appropriate.

You're under a lot of stress.  I know I would be upset if I found out that the person I loved had been with two other people besides me in the same day.  I have a temper for sure.  On top of that I have no way of knowing what kind of impact prescribed medication would have on me.  While I wouldn't suggest that you not be responsible for your actions, given your circumstances, it's not surprising that you reacted in the way that you did.  You need to take care of yourself and take steps so that it doesn't happen again.

Re: i belong in jail dixiecup: You don't belong in jail. Cut yourself some slack. You were enraged and lost your cool. I did the same thing when hubby cheated. I flew at him, jumped on top of him and beat the crap outta him. He took it pretty well. Said he deserved it. And I had never hit anyone in my life. But the emotions took over.

Usually antidepressants take some time to get into your system to reach a theraputic level. I'm not sure I would blame your actions on the medication. But you definitely need to speak to someone. Who's monitering your AD (anti-depressant) Is it your general practitioner or a psychiatrist? GP's aren't the best choice for monitering psych meds. Find a therapist also.

The article posted wasn't entirely accurate. Effexor has the worst withdrawl. Peter Breggin, MD, is an ass. Known in the psych community as a putz. He's against the use of psych meds, so his "expertise" is biased.

Not a md, just what I know to be true.

I agree! I mean ..he told you afterwards? :o What a jerk! And if you felt wierd after taking the medication then it is probably not the med for you..I mean sometimes there are minor side effects when first taking an anti-d but if you felt extremely strange then by all means talk to your dr. I know with me..if I take only 1 SSRI anti depressant I get VIOLENTLY ill.. out of my head sick.. I have a serotonin allergy so I cannot take anything that has extra serotonin in it..I have to take another class of medication.

Be sure and talk with your doc.. no your dont belong in jail..and get the bum out of your life as quick as you can..I know its hard..but this one is a real piece of work... ::)

best of luck to you..

Re: i belong in jail seyfert: I'd talk to your doctor on two counts.  One is to explain what is going on and whether the doctor thinks your medication may have had anything to do with your reaction.

The other is to get an STD test.  If you were his third that night, yuck.
