Re:Patience little one... Raven: LL,

Hi! Nice to meet you!

I am in Texas myself, and just starting the process of divorce. My stbx and I separated on March 4th. I just turned the application for legal aid in on Thursday...so at this point, I have no idea what the timing on this divorce is.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. I am not where you are yet, but I imagine the feelings you are having will be familiar to me soon enough.

Take pride in what you are doing....Whether its with your maiden or your married name, you are doing WONDERFUL things for yourself and your child. This is something to certainly be proud of.

Your STBX is missing out on this, true....BUT...HE is the one that is missing out on the good stuff...NOT you.

Congratulations on your impending graduation!
Re:Patience little one... Lumpy: Hey L.L. , wassup? I don't know what the law in Texas is but here in sunny California you can legally change your name whether married, divorced, or otherwise. Just so long as your not running from the law. (you're not on the lam are ya?) I don't know if you were speaking symbolically or what, but if you want to put your maiden name on the invites, why the hell not? To answer your question, yeah you've got issues and you just want to share your life with someone. This is a huge part of why I got married in the first place. To be an intrinsic part of something that is bigger and better than myself. Sure family and work both provide an aspect of that but it isn't quite the same. Gotta agree with bp about the finality thing. It's just a piece of paper. Much like our Marriage Certificates! The legalities are not as nearly important as the reality. Stay sane.

Janee - I can so relate, take care of yourself, we can have a little party when its over.

And Raven, nice to meet you as well. Your kind words and consideration are appreciated.
Yeah,
LL
Re:Patience little one... picadilly: oh... Lumpy is so right. You can put "Lone Longhorn" on your invites & it still applies to you. If those that know you, know you by that name, than what is the problem, the invites are not a formal document but even if they were, who cares?

My parents never gave me a middle name but on my first credit card i ever got, I added the inital "B" to my name because there were 4 other people in the city that had the same name. That credit card is still valid, when I call to talk to the Visa people, they ask me for it & I tell them & it's all good. Well, except that if you look at the abbrev. of my name with this letter it works out to NBC. :P never noticed that till years later.
