I dont see an example of a nice guy finishing last in this story. I see a guy who missed an opportunity waiting for things to happen to him instead of making things happen. Like mtmo said, you now have an opportunity to talk to them next time you see them instead of having them come to you. Use it or stop dating all together. If you keep self-sabotaging yourself, maybe you're not ready, and that's ok too. But dont set yourself up for failure by thinking negatively.
