Advice for life with losers and abusers techick: I got this piece of advice and it seems to be working out JUST GREAT for me:)
Get yourself a three-ring binder and keep all your papers in it. In my case it's my custody papers and it's working out just great! I had to get to the final custody orders and a few e-mails and some notes for ANOTHER case that I have to go to court with my XH on and becuase it was all in the binder, it was a LOT faster to get to then the papers being in my overflowing briefcase! Besides it helps me to keep the VERY important papers handy while "storing" the papers that I need to keep, but most likely will never need to use again.
PLUS it gives me the piece of mind that everything I need for court or the cops in an emergency, is RIGHT at my finger tips!:):):) I hate having to live on "high alert" but if that's the way I have to live, then I guess doing it right is the best I can do about it, yes?:) For instance I have the papers from the school district I live in that state that if he were to go to the kids' school, that they are REQUIRED to turn the kids over to me and not him...that along with the final custody papers will ensure that he does NOT steal my children again:(
All in all it has seemed like a great idea for dealing with someone that is going to be a continual problem and threat for many years to come.
I hope this helps you all out, not just in custody cases but also the people with other types of cases with a great deal of paperwork or that are going to go on for yrs to come:)
