If it is a strictly platonic relationship, there is no sleeping together. That would take it over the platonic line. Men don't get that.
I'm coming from the angle that men are the aggressors because I'm a woman and that's what I know. That 99% of my guy friends have tried to "take it to the next level" at one time or another, whereas I have not.
Comprende ahora? :)

I get that. Sex changes everything. I do agree with Fre in that it's not totally one-sided however.
Re: Survey for the guys dgrrl: if neither parties are involved with someone, and either party finds the other attractive, i think it's only natural they'll try to push it further. If the guy doesnt find you attractive, I'm not sure he'll push it further, unless he's drunk. ::)
Re: Survey for the guys Plucky: Ok, Lumpy and fre...I'll have to take your word for it. I'm just speaking from my own perspective.
dgrrl - I understand what you're saying. I'm talking more about those situations where one or both parties has explicitly said that the relationship would only be platonic and then one keeps pushing for more....using alcohol or whatever as an excuse. I have a "friend" that lives overseas that's getting on my last nerve with his drunk dialing and such. Sheesh. LOL ::)
Re: Survey for the guys freovir: I looked up "platonic" at dictionary.com and this is the best definition for this discussion: Transcending physical desire and tending toward the purely spiritual or ideal: platonic love.
i still don't see how platonic friends cannot sleep together. sure, they cannot have a quote-unquote relationship, but to scratch an itch, i don't see why not. the key as i see it is that the sex is a result of mutual desire for SEX, not necessarily each other.
or am i just a guy?

Re: Survey for the guys dgrrl: Then this friend needs to be kicked to the curb. If he cant respect your wishes, what else can you do? I've had plenty of guy friends come out of the wood works declaring their interest AFTER i got a bf (not before when i was single). I had to cut some of those friendships because things just got too weird. Them expecting me to dump new bf because they finally had the courage to make a move. I had another friend who started hinting around that we should be dating. I basically hinted that if we wanted to date, we'd be dating by now, which we aint, so we dont lol :) Thankfully he's moved on, but he's still a great friend!
