well I have been bought along to an 8 min. dating party. and here's the sad truth, if you don't fit a certain criteria looks wise forget it. why do I say that?.. well make believe your in a supermarket and that every one is single and looking.. then after you weed out the overwieght people and the almost good looking.. people what are you left with? not too many choices right? why..? because it's almost the exact same thing as online dating with out the wait! as someone so aptly put it, like dating online this is also very much geared towards looks alone so I will repeat what I said in another post if you are average looking but are very bright your going to get passed over for mr. or ms. perfect looking! got weight issues...forget it... got bad hair....forget it shoes not new.... forget it bald good luck and .....forget it.{guys} to thin..... forget it [.guy's"> not an 8.5 on hon........forget it brilliantly gifted? unless you meet the above factors they will never know. try it anyway what the heck.. got nothing to lose but more self esteem right?

You are so pessimistic, no date :-[. And why do you think baldness is such a bad thing?? It's better than the comb-over or wearing a rug, IMO!!! You're trying to tell me that no one finds you attractive in any way? And I know it sounds so cliche, but it's gotta be more than looks. Yes, there needs to be some chemistry, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder (I feel so corny writing this). Umm...you were married right? Someone must have found you desirable (at some point). Besides look at all the couples out there...don't tell me that everyone out there who has someone is 8.5, has hair, the perfect weight, new shoes, etc....far from it!!
Someone really must have f****d with your self esteem...

My stbxh and xbf are bald...and I work in oncology... baldness is a way of life for me (I have hair, though).
Re: 8 minute dating anyone? YellowJacket: I think speed dating is a great idea. I've seen a few TV shows that followed along. In one case the stations were in a large restaurant and were very private. They were all out of ear-shot from the other couples.
In one of the others, it was just a row of tables pushed together right next to each other. The couples were 2 feet from the person they had just talked to and the person they were just about to talk to. It seems like that setup would really hamper the process. I'd think the setup of the environment would be key.
