I guess I stopped listening to him after he moved out (for my own emotional self-protection).
We had just gotten out of divorce court, so it was like our first five minutes being divorced. We had driven there separately (of course) and he walks me out to the parking lot from the courtroom then we came to a point where his car was one way and mine was the other direction (kind of symbolic I think). There was an awkward silence as we both realized this was it and he put his arms out to hug me goodbye. I kind of hesitated, looked him in the eye, then turned my back and quietly walked away leaving him standing there alone with his arms outstretched. I never looked back. I think that was the first step I took towards acceptance.
One month later I graduated with my Masters Degree and he attended the ceremony with my parents and I (don't ask why, I still question why I invited him). When we walked back to the car afterwards, he actually opened my door for me. That was the only time in 14 years of marriage that he ever did that for me. Why now? Hello? We're divorced and you're treating me nicer than when were were married? Strange behavior...

He knows I am alone and dont know anyone here and left his dog with me til I leave next week....He was all set to take him when he moved out all his stuff last week but then left him for me. I appreciate it.
