Re: Drugs Anyone? dangergirl: Ask your doctoe about Lexapro.  Xanax is good for the immediate relief of anxiety but Lexapro helps long term.  Very little to no side effects, either.  It has changed my life.  I will be off it in about 6 months but it really has made the transition so much easier.

Re: Drugs Anyone? achingallover: Yeh, you know, I did ask my doc about Lexapro.  She didn't want to prescribe it to me because she personally hesitates to prescribe anything that hasn't been out on the maket for awhile - which Lexapro is the newest of them.  That's sorta what brought me to Celexa.  Lexapro has 1/2 the stuff in it that Celexa does and 1/2 something else.  Celexa is similar.  I am supposed to go back in a week.  My therapist thinks I should see a psychologist (or at least I think taht's how she really feels-although she won't come out and say it).  She's concerned that I came in being in such a mess with a dangerouly high blood pressue level and my doc is having me just "wait until I see you" in a week.  I dunno.  I'm tired.  And I've still got a Celexa headache from yesterday.  If I do go the way of the psychiatrist, I will certainly keep the Lexapro in mind.  Thanks again for the input, Dangergirl!

Re: Drugs Anyone? dave13: Well of course everyone is different.  Side effects do subside, but you should talk to your doctor if it is really hard on you. Don't let them convince you to keep taking it if it is really messing you up though. Many traditional antidepressants do have a trade off for however much they do help you. Ultimately you are going to be the best judge. One peice of advice- if you are seeing a therapist or psychologist, having them set up an appointment with a PSYCHIATRIST will be the very best thing to do. That is their job, to know these drugs and how they affect you. And I hate to say it, but very often a family doctor and (and even many therapist and some psychologist) don't fully know what they are dealing with with many of these drugs.
