Re: Who does this?!? 2be: Hey YJ... when I put up my profile, I was only looking for friends and I didn't take the innitiative at all.  All the ladies I ended up talking to emailed me first.  We chatted for anywhere between a few days to a few weeks.  And almost all of them, for no reason, just stopped emailing me.

I'm certainly not hurt by it... but I just thought it was odd to stop emailing without a reason or like you said... some sort of "thanks but no thanks."  Common courtesy.  heck, maybe they stopped and were trying to play a game with me to see if i would continue with the contact.

Well, by that time I was getting involved with the one woman whom I DID stay in contact with, and so I felt no reason to email them and wonder why they stopped contact.... so I let it go.  :)

Doesn't it seem like every time there is a thread about online dating there are a bunch of horror stories?  I don't get it.

I've never heard any such stories in real life but there are so many on newsgroups.  I put up a profile on a dating site explicitly mentioning I'm ONLY looking for friends, not romance.  Every one that I've heard from has been completely normal.  I've met a nice friend that I go to lunch with once a week now.  One of my best friends met his wife on YP.

I've heard friends of friends tall a couple of weird stories, as well as a couple of guys/dates tell me that they were stalked.  But have had no personal experiences, yet (superwife knocking on wood).  I think these stalking/weirdo stories can also be told by people who were set up on blind dates. or people who meet the 'tradidional' way as well.  There are all types, and can be fund anywhere, that's my take.  At least i'm hoping, b/c i'm still fishing!!
