Looking for visual attention-is it normal? hurtnconfused: I am dressed up really nice today. Wearing nylons, high heels, skirt, hair curled, etc. Is it normal for someone going through what we are to look for visual attention from others? I kinda feel bad for it but, I feel that I "need" someone to notice me without having to do anything or even talk to them.
Re: Looking for visual attention-is it normal? 2be: Absolutely normal. Your ego and self-worth are probably very low because of your situation. So even though you're not looking to communicate, you still need an affirmation that you are good, attractive, and wanted.
It's perfectly normal, so dont worry about it. Revel in the attention. Everyone's ego needs a boost from time to time.
:D
Re: Looking for visual attention-is it normal? Chris: i think it's normal to feel some sort of self-worth; whether it be by drawing attention by your looks or doing something constructive. of course the attention (hopefully from the opposite sex) serves two purposes, self worth and intro to the dating scene! i don't see anything wrong with getting all dolled-up just to prove that you still have it.

Thanks. I just don't want to come off as "I'm available" at this moment, just need those looks, still far too soon since this happened maybe a week ago or less. My husband didn't tell me those things for a long time so I "need" it.
Well off to take my daughter to preschool.
Re: Looking for visual attention-is it normal? lilly10: Yes that is completly normal. I think our ego's get pretty damaged when we go through the hard times and when people notice us we feel pretty again. Being noticed is nice no matter what.
I know something that was hard for me was my ex was always filled with compliments for me. When he left I did not have that reassurence anymore but I leared to live without it.
