Need help bad. -Custody Ciera: Does anyone know about changing custody arrangements after they are in place? I have 50/50 custody with my ex now but he has them during a couple days in the week and he doesn't have them do homework and has them skip so much school we get threatened with court. The caseworker at the school said it was too disruptive. Our parenting styles are clashing and the children are developing behavioral problems. Do you know what kind of grounds you have to have to change custody?
Re: Need help bad. Ciera: Also he lives with a female roommate and they constantly have new roommates in and out of there (male). His home and his rules are not stable. Does anyone know how hard it is to change from joint to primary custody?
Re: Need help bad. -Custody Ciera: Has anyone had to do this?
Re: Need help bad. -Custody LNC: I think you have an excellent case to take it back to court. Have you sought legal advise. Get the school records so you can show that they are not going to school when he has them. I assume from your post that social services may be getting involved. Make sure that you are covering all your bases, by sending them to school, making sure homework is done, etc. Additionally, his constant room mate change is not a stable enviroment for children. No one knows what type of individuals are coming and going.
My advise talk to an attorney. In California you could contact your local center for family solutions. They usually provide free legal advise.
hope this helps...LNC
Re: Need help bad. -Custody tara: If they're missing a lot of school when in his care, that sounds like grounds to me. (Standard "the most dangerous lawyer in the world is someone who has been accepted to law school" disclaimers apply.) Assuming your kids are 1st grade or older (sometimes K5 or older depending on the state), and aren't being homeschooled, they HAVE to go to school. It's the law, and he's breaking it. This isn't a clash of parenting styles.
This shouldn't be hard to prove -- school records say when kids are with Bug, they go to school; when kids are with Bug's ex, they don't.
Get thee to a lawyer -- these things can be changed.
