Re: New here.....My story 2be: Welcome, and my deepest admiration for the courage to not only get away from that situation, but raise your children yourself. One thing though... if your X is on drugs and alcohol, and by your own admission "rarely is sober" then your kids should NOT be anywhere near him until he is clean. I suggest you and your lawyer get you full custody of your kids until he proves he is a stable father.
Re: New here.....My story cupcakechump: Well thanks to everyone. I have recieved counseling both in the past and recently. I believe that the fear of falling back into this pattern is what keeps me from trusting most men. I don't date because I KNOW it's too soon but also because I fear my own judgement concerning men. As far as the children not seeing their dad I have been brought up on contempt charges twice now for not letting them go to their dads. The judge ordered drug screening which stbxh passed ( no suprise there I know how many ways there are to pass one) and the alcohol doesn't seem to be a problem to anyone but me. So I decided to contact his employer ( government marine base ) they also know he has a problem and are working from their end. So hopefully he will get help
