When to start?
.

When to start? feelin lost: Obviously I know this is somewhat of an individual question but, I've got friends already saying "I know this person... you'd have a good time".  I keep reminding them the papers aren't even filed, even if I wanted to... so when do most start dating again?  When the divorce is final, filed, what?  I think that they mean well, just want me to get out, have a good time and find out that all men aren't inconsiderate a**holes (which I know, not a man hater...)

welcome to ojar lots of good folks here!! :)

anyway you almost answered your own question! it is a very personal/individual descision! but I would say only if your emotionally healed {very inmportant!} for obviouse reasons if so I say go for it.. some people will not date you if the papers arent filed fearing you may never actually get a divorce or that your not really over him/her and of course there is this- you don't want to go from the frying pan into the fire either.. if your still hurt confused or asking the question why me? I would say more counseling is needed before you confuse the issue with new people.. friends mean well but don't fear being alone! if you need the time to chill DO IT! you have plenty of time for dating after you go through the healing proccess! take my situation for what it's worth, I have been seperated for over a year and I have only just begun to go out and meet people and I don't really feel I'm all that ready yet myself {really bad emotional abuse} asess your situation  soul search and if your ready for dating cool! ;)

Re: When to start? thehitekrednek: When my friends tried to hook me up I told them

"Let me recover from this wound first, before you point the gun at me again"

It worked

Re: When to start? Chris: totally a personal decision.  whenever you're ready to start enjoying life again i suppose.  dating doesn't mean starting a new long term relationship, just meeting new people.  the first few dates are going to real awkward anyway, so the sooner you get those out the way, the sooner you'll start feeling more comfortable in your new "skin".
