Re: Are humans meant to be with 1 person "forever"??? audi_driver: society in my eyes pllays a big part in the equation because where I live it takes both couples working just to make ends meet. Years ago, the wife stayed at home with the baby. Now it's different.....
My wife and I before we got married.....$80,000 combined
My wife and I with a baby after getting married and her staying home $50,000.
After a few years of hard work on my part, I was able to get better jobs and eventually started my own company.....
For years though......we robbed Peter to pay Paul because bringing homes $3,000 a month in a state where just rent is $1,200 makes it extremely tough.....There is a reason why most marriages fail bcause of finances in the first few years. It leads to stress which leads to people trying to get rid of it and many people cheat.
Re: Are humans meant to be with 1 person "forever"??? audi_driver: I would also like to add that in the past, women were dependent on their husband because they were not working.
Now most women have jobs and their parents got divorced so they are OK with their son or daughter moving back in and going through divorce.....
It's a big mess that will only get worse. Someday you won't even have "forever"
some nut job is going to come up with marriage terms........ "I do for the next 3 years"
Re: Are humans meant to be with 1 person "forever"??? chiefkyle: Someone has always cheated, in every marrage I've seen..
I gave up hope a long time ago. I know if I found "Mrs Right", I'd do her WRONG. So to answer your question. No. I don't think so.

Ah but you're talking motherly love. It may be instinct it may be a motherly love, but your original question was about animals being with one partner for life. With a few exceptions, there are no animals that do that.
Still, even with animals that chose to mate for life, I don't think it is LOVE. [color=red"> Love is a choice that only we humans make with a partner... [/color">
[/quote"> no I don't think that's exactly true, apes form attachments but we'll never know to what degree, btw so do elephants

Let me ask you a question....Do you believe in GOD?
If so, how do you know he or she exists? The same thing goes for animals and whether or not they love......
My main point was not o talk about love because MANY MANY people stay married and are NOT in love.
My point is that almost every person in America has slept with more than one person in their life.
Is it because we have "primal instincts" that take over? If we were meant to be with one person, why is it that 99% of the people on this world have been with more than one.
[/quote">
Yes, I believe there is a God. And you're right... it is merely a belief... it is a choice I've made, just like me choosing to love someone.
yes, almost everyone has slept with more than one person. I have. Does that mean my primal instincts have taken over? No, because I was monogomous with each one of those women. I NEVER thought about cheating on them, even when my wife was screwing around with another man.
I know what you're saying. When people cheat, it is not their 'primal instincts' taking over. It is a betrayal because they are unhappy with something and are trying to find happiness with another person. The have made a CHOICE not to be with the one they're with. it has nothing to do with animal instincts, just a stupid choice.
