But, how in the hell did people decades ago do it?? How did all of those people stay married?? Did they cheat on each other and just be cool with it?It frustrates me. It makes me scared to ever get married again. I always thought that sex with someone was supposed to be meaningful. Maybe, I was wrong.

Ah but you're talking motherly love. It may be instinct it may be a motherly love, but your original question was about animals being with one partner for life. With a few exceptions, there are no animals that do that.
Still, even with animals that chose to mate for life, I don't think it is LOVE. Love is a choice that only we humans make with a partner...

Let me ask you a question....Do you believe in GOD?
If so, how do you know he or she exists? The same thing goes for animals and whether or not they love......
My main point was not o talk about love because MANY MANY people stay married and are NOT in love.
My point is that almost every person in America has slept with more than one person in their life.
Is it because we have "primal instincts" that take over? If we were meant to be with one person, why is it that 99% of the people on this world have been with more than one.

there were alway's mistresses or even whole other families on the side depending on how wealthy you were, so I believe we are really no different than any other species, how did they stay together so long back then? well divorce was a really taboo subject in day's of yore so many either looked away or knew bout it and suffered in peace. so say's history...
