I think people who don't have anyone (kids or spouses), are MORE carring.

Hmmm... this may make some sense. Once the kids come, you begin to live for them, but what happens once they leave?
My ex FIL always said, you can love for your kids, but you can't live for them. You still need someone when the kids are gone. He might have a point. ::)
The question is... where is that someone you can live for?

There are people I would kill or die for, unconditionally. Those very few people would do the same for me, unconditionally.
Yes, it exsists, but it is as rare as true love, or maybe that is exactly what it is.

Re: Haunting Question corkscrew: I have friendships that I know that these people would drag their *ss out of bed at 2 a.m. to be with me if I needed that. I think that's true caring.
I only care this deeply about a handful of people in my life other than my kids, but I'm blessed to have those relationships.
I care about everyone on this board to an extent as well. Its not quite the same, but I want everyone here to find happiness and understanding.
True caring is possible, but rare.
Re: Haunting Question yella: I used to care unconditionally for people including my kids, but my past has pretty much stripped that ability away from me.
Maybe someday I can get it back again. But how can I ever see it if I don't believe it myself anymore?
I'm full of way too many questions today... ::)

Yes, it exists... and yes, I love you too, Spike.
