Tests can detect up to a few days before you miss your period. My guess is she is missing it due to stress and the change in her life right now. It doesn't take much to throw it off.

Nothing against kids, but I want to have them when I'm ready to support them and right now I'm not ready for the commitment of childrem. I guess preg. scares are part of being active... but they still suck. Thanks for the support. It helped a lot!
