Contrary to what some folks say, it does not hurt. But this depends on the area you have done.
We all have thick skin areas and thin skin areas. Thick skin does not hurt as much as thin. Areas over fat hurt more than muscle. Mostly though the feeling is more irritating than painfull. Its like someone is scratching you with a sharp object than anything else.
Get out there, find a shop with good artists and get it done. Keep in mind, they are addicting and you will likely be getting another soon after.
Re: got my tattoo twine: i agree with chaotic , it really didn't hurt at all, was uncomftorable for a bit but it didn't hurt, if you go to get one make sure it is a reputable shop and make sure you follow the rules to take care of it afterwards and you will have no problems. The place i got mine done is booked for the next couple months so i have some time to decide what to get next. Mine says MR. Soul on the top of it which is a song by neil young and it kinda sums me up as well. I love it and can't wait for the next
Re: got my tattoo startingover: It does hurt somewhat if you have any blending done because they have to go over the area twice, but it isn't that bad. The worst part is sitting still.
