There is an exhilaration that enlightens me
Exploding, emerging from the cocoon of commitment
That consumed me.
I did not let it destroy my essence,
But reinstate my being to this amazing awareness.
Metamorphosis within a courtroom—
I struggled for release from the oath that bound me
As you simultaneously paced in jail,
Oblivious your concurrent release meant
Complete emancipation.
The law states liberation occurs one year
After we finalized.
Thus, today I celebrate my transformation;
No longer imprisoned in your den
Of deceit and disappointment. There is no need to abet you.
This monarch has found her wings.
Glorious wings that ascend above a
Whistling wind of love, sovereignty, and acceptance.
Now I search for another butterfly to glide beside—
Watching you larva scramble below in suspense of survival.
