Don't know the name of this song, but it goes like this... JustMe: I was driving on the 405 (for those of you in Cali) and the song on the radio was a guy singing about "I'm not perfect, sorry I hurt you" etc etc - kinda a folksy rock tune. It hurt my heart to hear that since it sounded like my stbx-wife could have written it.

Anyone know the name of this song?

I've had to harden my heart sometimes to be consistent in what I think I need to, but that completely dropped me. I'm glad I can drive and cry at the same time.
Re:Don't know the name of this song, but it goes like this... picadilly: I think the song your thinking of is "The Reason" from Hoobastank. Barelybreathing posted it below but here is a copy & paste of the lyrics. I know, it's a sad song.

"The Reason"
2003 Hoobastank

I'm not a perfect person.
There are many things i wish i didnt do but I continue learning.
I never meant to do those things to you.
And so I have to say before I go, that I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me, to change who I used to be
A reason to start over new, and the reason is you

I'm sorry that I hurt you, its something I must live with everyday
and all the pain I put you through, I wish that I could take it all away
and be the one who catches all your tears, thats why I need you to hear

I'm not a perfect person, I never meant to do those things to you
and so I have to say before I go that i just want you to know

I've found a reason for me, to change who I used to be
a reason to start over new, and the reason is you
I've found a reason to show a side of me you didnt know
a reason for all that I do, and the reason is you

Re:Don't know the name of this song, but it goes like this... lucyloo: Just me,
I'm simultaneously laughing and crying- the lyurics are making me cry, but you said you've had to harden your heart... and that makes me think of the old song by Pat benetar (was it?) You know, the one that goes something like:

Standing on a corner, waiting in the rain
and I swear I'm never ever gonna wait again
you gave me your word
but words from you are lies.
Darling in your wildest dreams,
you never thought I'd go
but it's time to let you know
I'm gonna harden my heart.

I'm gonna swallow my tears
I'm gonna turn, and leave you here.

(hey not bad from my 6th grade memory!)
