Personal Property in CA JustMe: So, I get a call from my sbtx-wife that she's changed the locks and my personal property is now off limits until the div is final.
Of course, she was the abusive one and I left since I was afraid of having an iron put into my head (literally) if I didn't do what she wanted.
I like sleeping now with BOTH eyes closed.
But back the question, does the law bar me from getting any of personal property? What if she has destroyed my property in the past (i.e. marital help books through the paper shredder, thrown things away, etc).
Re:Personal Property in CA Sharp: I'm sorry I didn't notice this post until now JM, but I know you've mentioned this problem in other posts. My suggestion would be to go to the house w/a Sherriff and she is required by law to allow you to remove any belongings you can prove are yours, especially since the relationship was abusive. The counselors at the police dept might be able to direct you better, but as far as I am aware, you do have that right!
