EXACTLY!!! I felt the same way with my xh. I paid for EVERYTHING. I paid for his toys (motorcycles, jet skis..etc). When the divorce happened, I was hoping he would get responsible and learn to pay his own bills, get his own apt...etc. NOPE. He found a stupid woman with money to take over where I left off.
We didnt have any real closure either. Our situation went from one day being married to the next day filing for divorce/no contact. We didnt have any contact at all for nearly 8 mos. Our contact finally happened because I called him one time before xmas and said we needed to be civil for the kids...he agreed. I guess that was my closure. But, it was hard because it made me go from hating him/planning my next move in court to "now, he's not such a bad guy. did I make the right decision???".
Sorry to go on an on. Divorce sucks!

I believe that this is a product of a weak individual that lost their sense of being. They appeared to be strong, confident, etc. but deep down inside, they just doubt themselves. Unfortunately for us, we were attracted to people who would rather run away from the problem rather than try to fix it and make it even better than what it was. However in some cases, after a while, they find themselves again and are willing to put forth an effort, but sometimes it is too late.
Shocked, writing has helped me as well as posting here at Ojar.
