To my Wife 5 JoshuaB: In Ohio I thought that you were trying to address some of your problems and thought that the 2 years would help you really explore some of your issues. Perhaps I was wrong about that too.
I guess the thing that hurts the most is that you somehow blame me, or at least feel like a victim. But I really did try, I tried for both of us for a while. I’ll never forget what your brother said when you and your family ganged up on me. He said “regardless (of you sleeping with another man in my apartment)…. That is still not a good reason to treat her (you) like shit for the rest of her life.” That crushed me….. I have been there for you through thick and thin…. through everything…. And I tried the only way I knew how to make things right, and perhaps that was the wrong way or it just didn’t work. And I loved you for all of your issues, for all the sickness, for all the little nuances, for the headaches, the backaches, the jaw aches etc…. that is who you were and what I loved, and so if all of that amounts to (in your brothers words) “treating you like shit.” God I am really sorry.
