Any quitters here? Fjord Girl: I need some help, advice, support, suggestions... Whatever it takes. I MUST stop smoking, this isn't funny. I had no problem quitting in the past, but when I started smoking again last winter everything changed. I have no will power to stay away from cigarettes now and it scared the hell out of me when yesterday I passed a pack in less than 24 hours.
I started when I was 16 and during my college years I did it on and off, but I never smoked more than 2 o 3 cigs a day. Then I quit when I got married and didn't touch that crap for more than 5 years. After separation I smoked like a "whore in jail" (Spanish expression) for two months and then I decided I wasn't going to kill myself on top of everything else. I managed to stay away from it during 2005 and then when I moved in to this apartment in January 2006, my roomies smoked, blah, blah, blah... And here I am, buying packs as often as I can and I think enough is enough.
So, ex-smokers... How have you done it? Because everytime I make the resolution to stop doing it, I'll end up at the convenience a couple of days later. I've tried to cut it down by not bringing cigs to work, but once I get home I make up for all I didn't smoke during the day. Sick, sick, sick!
Suggestions will be welcome.
Re: Any quitters here? snkpack: I kept one cigarette every day and had my ex take the rest to work with him. I relit and puffed on that ONE cigarette all damn day until it tasted like charred *ss. By the end of the week, I never wanted to touch a cigarette again.

Drastic much, Snk? Wow...
I work as an industrial hygiene technician at a plant where there are sectors that smell a lot like tar. We keep doing campaigns about wearing masks so the employees actually protect their lungs. When I was washing the ashtray this morning, it smelled like tar and I felt like a huge hypocrite.
Maybe reading about all the ugly stuff in cigarettes will help me.
Re: Any quitters here? snkpack: Well, I've never really been known to take the path of least resistence. . .
