Good Bye Buddy
.

Good Bye Buddy littlelinsmiles: I had to take my dog of 6 years to the humane society because he is too large for my apartment.  I felt like someone took my heart out ripped it in half and tried to stuff it back in.  I had to take my babies with me which made it really hard to say goodbye to the poor guy.  For six years he (my dog) was my sleeping buddy.  He is 120 lbs and thought he was a lap dog.  If I cried he would push his head into me and I would practically fall over.  He protected me all the nights me and the kids were alone.  Everytime I came home from the hospital he nearly threw me over he was so glad to see me.  I had to put him in the little cage on the hard cold slab and shut the door on his face and walk away from him.  Thanks to my ex not paying Child Support I couldnt afford to put the $60 down so I could find out what happens to my best friend.  It was on this day I realized that I dont really have that great of friends because I had to do this all on my own.  Anyone who knows me and cares about me would have wanted to be with me.  It was so hard to drive home crying and my 3 year old kept telling me not to cry.  I hope he gets a good home.  I feel so bad for abandoning him.

Re: Good Bye Buddy TeddyR: I am very sorry and can somewhat relate on how extremely hard it is to give up your dog.It is understandably a very stressful thing for you and your children to have to go through since pet's are very much part of the family.I had to take my Husky dog of 14 years to the Vet this past Tuesday as he was having difficulties getting up and was panting excessively. They did a Complete Blood Workup and found he was into the early stages of Heart and Kidney failure. After discussing the bleak treatment options with the Vet,decided it would be best to euthanize him than to cause him more pain and suffering.Sorry for getting into my story, but i truly do know what your feeling having to "give up" a Great Friend.I can well imagine turning and walking away from the cage must have been the hardest steps carrying such a heavy heart. It's understandable and natural to feel like he was "abandoned" as you put it,that is the loving caring side of the person you really are.He is in the best hands at the Humane Society, especially with the screening process people looking to adopt have to go through. So you did the best thing possible for "Fido" by doing that.Lord knows how many don't and just leave them wherever to fend for themselves. Now doing that despicable act is truly abandonment.Your in my prayers.
Re: Good Bye Buddy startingover: I too had to give up my dog earlier this year.  Someone had abandoned and abused her.  A friend of mine found her in their back pasture almost dead, when she was well enough we brought her home.  She was with us for a year when I discovered that both my boys were allergic to her and she had to go.

Come to find out not all pet allergies cause rashes and sneezing/watery eyes like I thought. They had constant ear and sinus infections while she was in our house.  As heartbreaking as it was to send her to the pound, both boys immediately got better.

I still miss snuggling with Juni at night.  :'(
Re: Good Bye Buddy smokin: you know, its terrible to get rid of your dog.....

i had to lay my best friend down. that day, a part of me went with him to doggy heaven........

no amounts of people friends can replace the true love a real dog has as a friend to you......

im sorry, but i would hope that the humane society, would have more heart, than to charge you 60.00 to write down who your dog goes to.........

i wish you the best, and your doggy too. sorry.......
