mixed signals

mixed signals eeyore0512: Well I went on my first date in over 6 years, and had a wonderful time on Sunday. He seemed really interested, was giving me all sorts of signals that he wanted to pursue more, and even asked me on a second date. Then he emails me, and tells me that he didn't feel a "connection". that's fine with me, but boy he has mixed signals. He even asked if he could kiss me! Is it possible that I've been out of the loop so long, I've forgotten how to date? ???

I'm so confused! Back to square one I guess.  :-\
Re: mixed signals nidra: I'm confused....

During your first date, he asked you for a second date, and asked you if he could kiss you? (What did you say to the second date and kiss?)

Then, after the date, he got home and emailed you to tell you he didn't feel a connection?

If he didn't feel a connection, then I don't understand why he'd ask you for a second date and a kiss.

Perhaps signals got crossed and he's misreading something from your end? Could his "I didn't feel a connection" statement be a possible attempt to cover up some vulnerability or hurt that he may have experienced, based on a possible misperception, during the first date?

I'm just trying to make sense of his forward-looking stance during the first date and his cryptic "no connection" email.

Re: mixed signals eeyore0512: I'm just as confused as you. I said yes to both the second date, and kiss, but I didn't let the kiss get too out of control.

I have no idea what signals I was putting out. I was interested in him, I'll admit to that. I tried to be open and friendly, answered all his questions, asked some of my own.  I don't know what his deal is. I don't care I guess. I suppose it's his loss, not mine.

I hate this dating thing. I'd give it up completely but I don't want to spend my life alone. Sitting at home alone on Friday and Saturday nights is starting to get really old!
Re: mixed signals chaotic: Maybe before or after going out with you, he went out with someone else.  That person is the one he felt no connection with and mistakenly sent you the email.  ???
Re: mixed signals LostTeacher: i hate the mixed signals thing!
i was at a club for my b-day, and a bunch of guys were there that we knew. one was a person that i've sort of had a crush on for a year.  for most of the night, he was VERY into me...to the point where we were dancing all the time, he was watching me, and even my friends noticed.
when i went up to him to see what he was up to for the rest of the weekend, found out that he had a GIRLFRIEND!!  what an @ss i felt like.
i don't know what it is about mixed messages, but i don't like it.
