Does pure unadulterated love exist between man and woman?

Does pure unadulterated love exist between man and woman? ezydriver: Can love, or does love exist between a man and woman?
I'm talking about pure unadulterated selfless love.
Not infatuation or addiction which is so commonly mistaken for love.
Not habit or familiarity. I mean the emotion in its purest form. Possibly akin to that between parent and child.
It seems that unless we're getting our needs met by a person that we simply do not love them. We get obsessed by people who seem cold, uncaring or unaffectionate but I feel that there is a psychological paradox at play here. Its not love. It all seems so selfish. I personally have never loved. I've cared for, been infatuated with etc etc.. but never purely loved somebody.
I guess I'm talking about true love. Does it exist.
Thoughts please.
Re: Does pure unadulterated love exist between man and woman? Fjord Girl: Yes, it exists. I'm the result of that: my parents. I have seen no other relationship which is stronger. Those two people loved and stood by each other until the day it was over, the day my daddy died. It was selfless, unconditional, sweet, funny. I envy them, but I thank life for giving me a chance to believe that it too can happen to me.

Re: Does pure unadulterated love exist between man and woman? JNA: Nice Post...

I think True Love does exist yes

I see a lot of old couples and see that love...

But in our Generation I wonder the same things you just posted

I have no wise words to give or anything really...

Great Post

Re: Does pure unadulterated love exist between man and woman? MikeB: My thoughts...

What "pure love" is is open to definition... and how you will define it will depend heavily on your situation, your age and/or even your mood...

That being said... I think that pure love as you described it exists...
-I feel it... I know others who do, women and men... who don't necessarily get their wants and needs fulfilled but love nonetheless... who would do everything in their power to avert harm from their beloved, who would do everything to make them happy (I use the phrase "to make so happy" in a very broad sense)...

Of course everyone who loves someone has (and has to have) a certain idea about how best to make their beloved happy...

My love hasn't been reciprocated for almost a year now... I'm learning to live with it, but I still love... (I don't want to go into that now) ... I love with all my heart.

So yes, it is possible.

Re: Does pure unadulterated love exist between man and woman? Fjord Girl: The problem is that relationships have become disposable and I blame modern society where everything that's broken doesn't deserve to be fixed, but thrown away and replaced. People give up to easily, people are always looking for a benefit.

I put my parents as an example of true love because they have gone through so many difficult things in life anyone would think their marriage was affected. But no, they loved each other more and more with every struggle and every challenge. It just doesn't happen anymore.
