Re: Too controversial for polite company? Ciera: Just to make a point.  The article says Mel himself says he is an alcoholic.  So it's really silly to argue about calling him one.

Also drunk driving has killed a lot of people and it is generally not just the person who is drunk.  Do we know how drunk he was?  Are we talking two beers or are we talking plastered and likely to plaster someone else to the sidewalk?

I'm not sure what put the bee in your bonnet Spike but dang man, lay off.  He did not insult you.  Drinking in your home and "numbing" your pain hurts no one (when you're by yourself).  But Mel Gibson wasn't doing that.  Whether he was numbing pain or not is irrelevant.  When you chose to drive in that state you put other people at risk.  I know someone who ran over a child while only slightly drunk.  Nothing numbs that pain, not for the parents of the child, and not for the driver of that car.

Leave the guy alone, especially you Freckles. You know we all have our ways of dealing with this shit. I like to get numb from the booze, so f*ck you Freckles, I drink, and I don't drive, I'm responsible. I'm just numbing the senses, maybe you should try it. Jesus, you make it sound like those of us who drink are axe murders. Grow the f*ck up, this is the real world. Keep your sh*t to yourself.
