I rub her back, I smile at her, I make her coffee, always ask while I am out if she wants anything, help out with anything that I can . . . none of it gets me anywhere that I really want to go. It may mean something to her in the long run, but right now what she really wants is independence and space. It's tough with the divorce hearing right on the horizon; feeling like I am running out of time. . .I know deep inside that I need to back off and just live for myself. All I can do is hope . . .
