Going out alone? masterlow: So I find myself back in single land for the first time in about 3 years.
All of my guy friends have either moved out of town or have wives+babies. This basically means I have no guy friends to go out on the weekend with.
Do any of you dare the bar/club/singles-scene alone? Do you actually just go up and talk to random people?
I've never really met a girl out at a bar. All my GF's have been friends of friends. I'm pretty intimidated about going out solo, but it may be my only option for meeting new women.
Re: Going out alone? Fjord Girl: Start doing things you feel comfortable with. I know I couldn't do to a bar all by myself. But maybe a coffee shop, the mall, the movies. Go out because you want to have some fun, not because you're looking for someone. If you happen to meet someone in the process, then it's cool.
I'm actually going to do that today. Going to hit the mall, buy a few things I need and then I'll go to my favourite place in town to have a nice cup of chai tea. I'll sit there, surf online and enjoy the international music they play.
Take it easy and don't stress.
Re: Going out alone? Mooneyes: I go to clubs to hear live music or poetry or dance music by myself. Generally I don't talk to people. I'm there for my own entertainment. In some situations that were crowded I have asked to sit with single guys. They generally are pleasant and I have the added bonus of not losing my seat if I go to the bathroom. The more I go out by myself the easier it gets. However my goal is not to meet people. I would have a hard time of it. I still haven't introduced myself to the DJ at the club with whom I share a mutual friend.

Re: Going out alone? superwife: I'd never do it alone. I'm in the exact same boat as you, master. I am very friendly and personable, but not with complete strangers in that kind of arena, b/c everyone else always has an established clique. I'd feel like an ass :-\.
