Re: 1st Step forward. darkrose: Glad to hear that you decided to get some help. A lot of men (myself included) don't think they need help until it's too late, and honestly there's no shame in dealing with your emotions. A lot of guys are afraid to show cracks in the whole masculinity image thing. :)
(been in marriage counseling for almost a year, went to the "last session" right after my wife left me, took 2 weeks, had one today, and I'm going to be going 1x a week for a while to fix things with me).
Re: 1st Step forward. chaotic: Its a tough decision to make, but it was a wise choice. This is too big to handle on your own.
Counseling will help. Then eventually you will be on here helping others. I have found that trying to help people here has been a great tool in my own recovery process.
Glad to hear that you have taken the step. You wont regret it.
Re: 1st Step forward. Fendann: Way to go, Ric. We're behind you 150%! I don't think I need to say that it will help...everyone else has done that already. A journal has really helped me out, so I would definitely agree with Tyler on that one. Good luck!
Re: 1st Step forward. Crystal_Blue_024: Hey Ric,
I'm so glad you took the initiative!!!! This is awesome!!!! Counseling will really help you, it definitely has helped me! I'm glad you realize that there is NO shame in asking for help, rather it shows what a STRONG person you are by seeking the help you need... The first appt. is going to feel kind of akward at first, but just be open and honest with the therapist, it's okay if you cry, it's okay if you yell, it's all okay... After you get comfortable with your doc you will look forward to the appts. I'm so glad you've taken this step... We're all behind you! Let us know how it goes! :-) (((( HUGS )))))
