Guys - can you answer this one for us.... bluskygrl: A bunch of us gals went out after work today for dinner and a question came up that we couldn't answer - even as a nurse I couldn't...

If a man has no trouble getting "excited" why would he having trouble maintaining "excitement" during the act?

Is it arousal, lost attraction, mechanics  - position,  too much beer, guilt etc...

The Viagra ads never talks about losing it - only getting it??

What are your answers?

6 inquiring women want to know!!!

Re: Guys - can you answer this one for us.... Whirlpool: It has happened to me. Maintaining that thing is just as much mental as physical, anything can happen. For me it has only happened while receiving oral, I think because since I am just there doing nothing it gives my mind a chance to wander lol. If you having an distractions at all like stress, pending projects, and anxiety about anything coming up, when you are personally not "busy" those things can creep in your head. Saying that, it only takes a few seconds of focus to get back in the action again lol. If I am the one taking care of business this is never a problem because my focus is on what I am doing;)

Now when drunk that is another story, I have been so drunk before I could not even finish lol.

Re: Guys - can you answer this one for us.... Spike: I agree with WP, it is as much mental as physical. Alcohol plays a part, it's like a fine balance, when everything is right, it's the energizer bunny. If one thing goes out of balance it all goes for a sh*t. Lately, if I get any indication of the ex, it drops. Could be a song playing in the background, something she says, something she does, or I do. It really sux, because that means she still has control, to an extent. Mood is everything, scent for me is huge. I probably just confused you more, then I helped. BTW, age is a factor too, smoking, and diet.
Re: Guys - can you answer this one for us.... So_Lost: This happens to me sometimes.  Not to the point where I have to stop, but I can feel it goin down, and have to concentrate to fix it.

The problem is mental.  Durring the act, a man is pretty much ready to finish within the first 5 minutes.  Maybe not all men, but most.  By controling the urge to finish with our minds, we are able to extend this time by leaps and bounds.  However, doing this causes two problems...

1. You allow your mind to think of other things in order to trick yourself into not being ready to finish.  This has the drawback of getting you stuck on a thought that is totally non-sexual, and can ruin the moment.  (Anyone ever get stuck thinking about work? I have...)  In which case, things start to go down hill.

2. After about 10 minutes or so, maybe a bit more, the friction in the area begins to lower the sensation you feel.  This combined with #1 has the effect of really making it difficult to maintain.

Oh, and I have to agree that smell is also an issue.  If you are doing it K-9 style, there are always certain smells that can waft up to your nose that ruin it.
