Re: A Minor Issue that Turned Major!!! poppy: this sounds like my marriage. but it is not about tv. it is about lack of connection and lack of desire or inability to find the connection.
i was often in bed watching tv while my ex was downstairs watching his own prorgams. i would often go down there to read while he watched what he wanted or i would sew, just so i could be with him. but he was never interested in compromising on a program or turning the tv off and even going for a walk.
there is a chasm between the two of you and it has nothing to do with 500 channels of television programming.

I think they would probably feel very uncomforatable if the tv were off and they were left to face each other with no buffer. But you turn the tv off and try to connect. If both people arent willing to try to connect, like in your case with your husband Poppy (sorry girl :(), well then you know its not just a tv show youre fighting over. And then its time to figure out what to do from there. But it starts with turning the tv off. Hopefully it can be a beginning to reconnecting.

I think there is definately value in what everyone has said. As unwilling as I am to give up my TV (not to mention my TiVO)....It isn't causing problems in my relationship. (Also might have something to do with the fact that I no longer have a relationship to be effected by TV. Sad, that.)
Give up the TV....start compromising...love eachOTHER...not the freaking boob-tube. (haha--bob tube.)
