Re: Nobody said this was gonna be easy.... sweethome: Atly,
I am, and have always been, a BIG coupon clipper :) Groceries and eating out can chew up a chunk of your $$ each month.
Is there anywhere that you can cut back? For instance, drop some premium channels on tv, cut down on phone extras (call forward/return), also, conserve energy - now is the great time of year to catch up on your utility bills, because you can open the windows when it's cooler.
Also, often paying bills such as the insurance or taxes in a lump sum, instead of spreading them out month to month can save you $$. My car insurance company charges $4 per month to bill me, so if I pay it every 6 months, I'll save $24. I started having my phone bill done electronicall - ie. bill sent online instead of a paper one, and that saves me $ 3 per month, for a total of $36 a year (and who needs more paper anyways?) I know these seem like small savings, and alone, they are, but just between the two above, it saves me about $84 per year, and when you're pinching pennies, they all count :)
I'm getting ready to embark on this single mom thing myself - STBXH is moving out this week - I've been pinchin pennies for about 5 years now - since I've been a stay-at-home mom, but now, I'm a working mom (part time) and watching every dime.
I sell on Ebay, plus I sell Avon. It's extra. I don't consider it in when I look at my bottom line, so I know it's going to cover the extras.
You can do this - you've helped me try and figure this out - you can do it, babe :)
