Tonight is the talk faraday: So I get home and the first thing he says is I need to talk to you after our daughter goes to bed- ok? What about? The lawyer- great- with the way I was feeling today and as tired as I am- tonite is the talk- any advice on how to get through this in one piece and not fall apart? Thanks
Re: Tonight is the talk PennyLane: You can do this Faraday!!!
This may sound crazy, if Iwere you, I'd go for a good jog, fast walk. Get your heart working and pump yourself up. The worse time to have talks like that is to be tired and worn down. You'll have the raw end of the stick if you do.
If you know that won't be a good time for you PUT the ball back in his court and tell him that tonight isn't a good time and pick a time that YOU will be ready for it.
Re: Tonight is the talk brielle123: Just breathe. Take deep breaths and try your best to remain calm while ya'll are talking tonight. It is no cakewalk, I must admit...but just know that you are going to get through it, you have to be strong, and you can be strong. Hopefully the anticipation leading up to the talk will be the worst part of it...I know it was for me. Then once you are done with "the talk" you will probably feel somewhat relieved, not saying that you are going to feel great, but relief as to some kind of pending closure to this whirlwind that has been enclosing around you for so long. Keep your head up, I know you can...we are here for you...good luck :)
Re: Tonight is the talk vizion000: Just had my talk a day ago, above all else remain calm. Don't let him get you worked up. Showing poise and tact, will completely throw him off. Handle it with class, rather than getting into a yelling match. Like alot of people here told me so many time, don't give them the satisfaction of knowing they got to you. When you strip them of the power to harm you, many things will change for you....for the better. I know its all easier said than done, but try to keep a level head and treat it like a business meeting , rather than a traumatic emotional event.
Above all else, know that we are here for you.
