what about YOU turns people off? clambakesX: As the flip side to what turns you off ...

What about you is a turn off to potential dates?

Me:
- shorter hair than a lot of guys like
- generally if my appearance doesn't appeal for whatever reason, that's just taste
- nationality (not really loved by everybody)
- "skeleton" of marriage
- dry humor
- need a lot of space and time alone
- can seem pretty conservative (dark suits etc)
- not all that into immediate romantic getaways, datey-dates etc

the biggest seems to be:
- work is a key part of my life, not compromising that for a dude again

and I don't mention these any more, just keep my ears open and taper off contact if I see it's a conflict, but:
- don't want kids
- not religious

Re: what about YOU turns people off? darkrose: Oh geez... Why don't you ask my stbxw. I'm sure she could give you a laundry list of things that turn her off.

The biggest thing as of late is I talk myself in circles. I have a very active mind and it seems like I just talk round and round and round.

Re: what about YOU turns people off? nn: Good one...

I can be a little wimpy and emotional, bit of a femme I suppose.
Too direct.
I'm shallow, so that's a little creepy when people figure that out.
Vanity.
Plus the usual -- ex, kids, etc.
Re: what about YOU turns people off? TarheelMike: My shyness comes off as aloofness.

I don't know how to fix that.

Just a thought, but if you're too shy to say anything (or can't think of what to say) then you could make up for that by smiling, eye contact, body language, stuff like that. Maybe that would help??
