Re: what about YOU turns people off? 2be: I'm a pleaser.  And that has been interpreted in the past as me being too much of a doormat.  Things like: "You need to stand up and tell me NO every once in a while." has been said by a few different women.

My point, which was never understood... is that I REALLY DON'T CARE what we do...I just want to spend time with you.  If I REALLY don't want Chinese, then I'll tell you but the vast majority of the time I truly dont care.

Sometimes I wonder if it truly is them wanting my opinion (which I am happy to give) or rather they just want someone to argue and debate.  Some people just WANT that pushback, even over stupid, trivial things.

I have a goofy/warped/sarcastic sense of humor that some can't take
I can go on intense nerdy tears about certain subjects
I'm a very touchy person but that doesn't mean I'm putting out  ::)
I tend to be too straight forward and open

I have this problem too. People who have later gotten to know me say they thought I was a snob at first.  I have never been one of those people surrounded by lots of friends. I usually only have a close 2 or 3.

My shyness comes off as aloofness.

I don't know how to fix that.

I get the same thing. I like Alpha-Bits suggestion. You can be friendly without being verbal.
