Opinions PLEASE! momof1and1: Hi Everyone,
I have only posted 2 other times but I read everyones advice and it helps. So Thanks. I am having a slight meltdown right now and just want someones opinion. My husband is having an affair with someone 13 yrs younger. To make this story short. I left when I found out with the kids to an apt. I immediately filed for child support. I requested this on 7/31. My STBX has had papers about this conference for at least a month. Tonight I had to talk to him about picking up the children in the AM. He said to me that our "conference" would probably be postponed on Monday. His lawyer did not have enough time to prepare!! It is Friday at 7pm here. This is not something we even need the lawyers for (my own lawyer told me this). He just saw a lawyer for the first time this week, maybe even today!! I already took the day off on Monday from work. I just started this job and can not just get time off. My question is, How likely is it that his presumed lawyer will get a continuance for Monday morning for this conference? My lawyer was not notified today because she would have called me immediately! He said he knows he will have to give me about $1000 a month in support and will "if he has too". He says he understands what and why he has to pay. WHy would he need to delay this conference that he knew about for a month.... because he waited until this week or today to see a lawyer! I live in Pennsylvania. The con. was for this Monday at 10:00 AM. I sorry I am rambling. I am so frustrated! I can not afford to lose a days work! Thanks
Re: Opinions PLEASE! alonewith2: Are you going through Domestic Relations at the courthouse to do this? Usually if there is a continuance requested they will notify you. You could always call the courthouse Monday AM before you go to see if it was indeed postponed.
BTW, I live in PA, too! ;D
Re: Opinions PLEASE! momof1and1: This is through domestic relations but not at a courthouse. I am told it is very informal, it is not even "run" by a lawyer. This is the initial meeting to establish support payments. Thanks

Re: Opinions PLEASE! alonewith2: Ah, okay. The DR here is at the courthouse, but in a separate section. It still wouldn't hurt to call first and see if it's still a go.
