Re: Do women take it harder? Spike: I think it depends on the breakup, who left, how they left, the causes. And of course it depends on the personality of the person(s) involved.
Re: Do women take it harder? sosad05: [quote"> I think that more than taking it harder, we're simply more capable of expressing how we feel than men do, so that gives people the idea that it's harder for us.
What Beren addressed (suicide rates) is probably because of some men's inability to exteriorize what they go through and its getting overwhelming.

I couldnt agree more with this statement. Im probably totally wrong about this but it seems like its easier for men to jump into a new relationship too. Look at the number of older men whose wife dies and they remarry 6 mos later!
Re: Do women take it harder? gdaisygirl: I don't think that one takes it harder than the other I do believe that women are more apt to express there feelings outwardly way more than men. Men seem to hold things in too much and that's just not good.
But looking at Ojar there seems to be a lot of men wanting to talk about things :)

Re: Do women take it harder? TeddyR: Generally speaking i believe it depends on the person's overall sensitivity and ability to cope with life altering issue's.Some will recover faster than others regardless of gender.Other factors may play a role as well, like Mental Illness. For instance,a Sociopath may lack empathy and not have the consiounce to really give a darn.
Re: Do women take it harder? hudson: I don't think that women take break ups harder than men. I think it's harder on whomever had the most invested in the relationship.
I do think that women in general have tendency to get closer and more dependent on their partner quicker than do men.
